My father took six photos of the building of the Dominion store at the intersection of 45th Avenue and Brewster in Lachine. Some 'drug store processing' of the era resulted in Ektachrome slides with a permanent red-brown cast. Photos 4 and 5 seem to have been done in a different batch and their colours are less resistant to remediation.
In the spring of 1961, a Bucyrus 30-B is working to excavate the basement of the Dominion store.
I think the station wagon behind the excavator is painted for Dixie Hardware.
A dump truck receives the excavated material.
The reverse view, taken from the shopping centre parking lot
with our apartment building (100, 45th Ave) in the background.
In July, my father photographed the steelwork from our building's courtyard.
Roof trusses are being placed.
A four-year-old details his ride.
My father was a student of modern photo composition
and he often placed us to serve as a focus of interest.
