Quebec City area - Timber for export in the late 1800s

Rafts made of the timber, often equipped with tents and cooking shanties,
were home to the 'raftsmen' as they transported the wood to Quebec.

Historically, immigrants from the British Isles were often brought to Canada on the ships' backhaul.
Accomodation for the passengers in the ships' holds was rudimentary.
